There can be many causes of pelvic pain and your gynecologist is well suited to help you to find the reason for your pain and help you to feel better.
Finding the cause of your pain can be an involved process and its exact source can be difficult to identify. We at Garrison Womens Health Center believe in a multidisciplinary approach to diagnosing and treating women who suffer from pelvic pain.

Abnormal Uterine Bleeding
Normal menstruation occurs every 21 to 35 days. Typical duration of bleeding is between 2 and 7 days.
If your menses occurs more frequently, lasts longer than described, or is excessively heavy you should advise your gynecologist. Certain laboratory tests may be ordered along with a pelvic ultrasound and endometrial biopsy to further evaluate the uterus and ovaries.
Once an evaluation has been performed, your gynecologist will sit down with you to review the options that are available for you to help resolve your abnormal bleeding. Women have many more options available to them today than ever before!
Treatment of Abnormal Bleeding in the Office
If you have been diagnosed with abnormally heavy bleeding, there are many options available to you that can be managed within the office setting or by a minor outpatient procedure in the hospital.
Options include:
- hormone therapy
- dilation & curettage
- levonorgestryl intrauterine device
- endometrial ablation
